Review
As the name suggests, The Helsinki Finland Temple includes an attractive, up-to-date counted cross-stitch pattern of the Draper Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the beautiful "beehive" state of Utah.
General instructions first are provided explaining the basic cross-stitch, the half stitch, the horizontal or vertical half stitch, the backstitch outline and the over-two backstitch, various fill-in partial stitches, and a variety of patterns for trees and other landscape details. Then, comprehensive instructions are included for each temple (including finished design sizes for the temple only or for the temple with the cross-stitched name included).
A comprehensive list of the 122 LDS temples in use as this book goes to press (plus the Kirtland and Nauvoo temples) shows their numerical order, dedication dates, and the individuals who dedicated each temple. Nine other temples which have been announced but are not yet completed also are listed. The back cover presents a Pattern Index of all the nine temple-pattern books currently in print from Horizon Publishers: 12 Mormon Temples, 12 More Mormon Temples, 15 New Mormon Temples, 14 New Mormon Temples, 13 New Mormon Temples, 10 New Mormon Temples, The New Small Temples, 11 More New Mormon Temples, and The Utah Temples.
Completing the stitching of an LDS temple pattern is a challenging but highly rewarding endeavor. The carefully prepared patterns by Jean D. Crowther are readable and easily followed, and they speed the project toward a successful completion.
